thank you very much for the interest you take in our Club Conchylia. Here we may introduce this club to you, hoping that this information will give us a chance to win you as a new club member. The club was founded in 1969 and counts about 250 members at the present. The greater part of them comes from Germany, others from Austria, Switzerland, other European countries and overseas. The members' interests are wide-spread. Most of them collect shells of marine molluscs, some are interested in land and freshwater molluscs, others are busy with fossil species or are specialized in stamps or telephone cards with mollusc motives. The biological-analytic view and valuation of the collecting objects are frequently completed by aesthetic aspects. In our magazines "Club Conchylia Informationen", "Acta Conchyliorum", and Club Conchylia Mitteilungen this variety is represented at its best. Apart from articles on the scientific side as to taxonomy, evolution, biology, animal geography and history of the mollusc knowledge the papers content travel and collecting reports, ethnological and philatelistic items as well as reports concerning the club itself respectively its members. On request the club offers determination assistance, procures you with contact to other collectors and advises you in literature questions. Every year in autumn the annual main meeting takes place in different places in Germany, connected with a stock market for purchase and exchange. Regional meetings are organized as well. By no means the club runs an economic business, all the workmanship for it the edition of the magazines included is honorary. The membership fees are spent for the journals and relevant expenses. The club does not deal with shells, the president is not allowed to give recommendations for dealers. The annual membership fee amounts to 40 Euro at present. Pupils and students without an income of their own can apply for a reduction to 25 Euro. The direct debit of your membership fee would greatly facilitate our management work. When the annual subscription is paid, the new member receives all the club publications of the concerning year free of charge. We do hope that this information corresponds to your expectations, and you can make up your mind to join our club. Forms for the confirmation you will find on the next pages.
